Why do I still feel broken if I have faith?”
Elder Cateria Daughterty
There are seasons in life when the weight feels heavy. You wake up tired—not just physically, but emotionally. Your mind feels overwhelmed, your heart carries wounds you can’t always explain, and you wonder why the struggle still feels so real even though you love God.
Many believers quietly wrestle with this question: “Why do I still feel broken if I have faith?”
Here is the truth you need to hear today: struggling does not mean you are failing. Sometimes the place where we feel the most wounded is the very place where God wants to bring the deepest healing. The Lord is not distant from your pain. He is a healer of hearts and a restorer of minds.
Psalm 147:3 reminds us, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” God does not ignore pain because he steps into it. Many emotional wounds come from rejection, trauma, disappointment, loss, or spiritual exhaustion. When those wounds remain unhealed, they begin to affect how we think and how we see ourselves.
But God is a restorer. Joel 2:25 declares, “I will restore to you the years that the locust has eaten.” What life tried to damage, God has the power to rebuild.
One of the greatest places where healing begins is in the mind. Romans 12:2 says, “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Transformation begins when God’s truth replaces the lies that pain has planted. As your mind is renewed through Scripture, prayer, and God’s presence, fear loses its grip and your identity in Christ becomes clear again.
Faith Steps Toward Inner Healing
Healing is both a work of God and a journey we walk with Him. Here are a few powerful steps to begin:
Bring your pain honestly before God. Healing begins when we stop hiding what hurts and invite God into those places.
Replace lies with truth. Trauma often plants false beliefs, but Jesus said, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
Allow God to heal the root. Sometimes we manage pain instead of healing it. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas that still need restoration.
Renew your mind daily. Through prayer, Scripture, and worship, God reshapes how we think and restores our peace.
Walk with healthy community. Healing grows when we are surrounded by people who remind us of God’s truth.
This is one of the reasons I founded Rise & Shine Mentorship and Coaching. The mission is to help believers move beyond surface-level faith and grow into true disciples of Christ. Through mentorship, biblical teaching, and spiritual guidance, believers are equipped to heal emotionally, renew their mindset, strengthen their relationship with God, and discover their God-given purpose.
Because healing is not just about recovery, it is about becoming who God created you to be.
In my new release book, “The Spiritual Trauma Unit”, I addressthe deeper wounds many believers carry but rarely talk about—spiritual pain, emotional trauma, church hurt, and identity struggles. My book offers biblical insight and encouragement for those seeking restoration and reminds readers that healing is part of God’s plan.
Let this truth settle into your heart today: you are not too broken for God. The pain you survived will not define you, and the wounds you carry will not cancel your purpose.
God is still healing hearts.
God is still renewing minds.
God is still restoring lives.
If you are reading this today, your story is not over. Healing is possible, and your season of restoration may be closer than you think.
So, lean into God’s presence. Invite Him into the places that still hurt. Allow His truth to renew your mind and restore your heart.
You were never created to live broken.
You were created to rise in faith and shine in purpose.
